The first thing Dan says to him is, “we’re in the NHL!”, because that’s how he’s been greeting anyone wearing a jersey, and Marc Lapointe, 'the future of the franchise', is wearing Dan's colours.

“I think you’re my new best friend,” Dan says, his excitement beating out common sense, social filters, the need to play it cool.

“It is nice to meet you, new best friend," Marc says, his mouth twitching.

In hindsight, Dan probably falls in love with him in that moment, Marc laughing at him and with him all at once, but it takes a little while to figure that out.

Promising premise but the writing appeared stilted and it was difficult to get a read on the characters as the author told more than showed. I'd contemplated returning it. However, the writing and character development significantly improved as the book progressed. I ended up loving it! I want to reread it, which is my gauge of whether a book is really good.

You Could Make a Life edition by Taylor Fitzpatrick Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This is the ultimate novel that depicts the developing relationship between two rookie hockey players. The story is nuanced and the characters well-developed. I look forward to everything this author writes, as her greatest skill is comprehensive world building containing characters that readers can really get behind.
You will be emotional about freckles.

The story is great, never a dull moment. It's about 2 hockey players with suprisingly very little hockey played.
If you don't know anything about it, don't worry, the world building is very well done. And again the caracters are strong enough to make you care for them anyway.
Everything felt plausible, to the start of their romance, the team they played for, the way media behave, everything will pull you in.
And i didn't even start on the 2 main caracter, they are snarky, caring, idiots, in love ... but i feel like you should discover them for yourself.

One of the best story i've ever read. Make me want to never have, so i could reread it for the first time all over again.
I'm looking forward to reading more from Taylor Fitzpatrick. This book had well developed characters and believable situations. I loved it.
I really enjoyed this. Believable characters and a great, complex story-line. I love sports stories (even though I'm not into sports) and this really delivers.
you won't be sorry! yes, it has hockey which is always good, but the story rocks and you'll fall in love with the characters. i did. Taylor, please , keep writing .
Ok let me start by saying that when I started this book I was surprised at the writing style, it's very different from anything I've read so far and I wasn't sure if I liked it. The lack of dialog really bothered me! having said that...I couldn't put it down! I fell in love with both Dan and Marc. I still think a little more dialog between them would have been nice, if only to get to know Marc a little better. Many times I wanted to know more about him and what motivated him, but.....I would still recommend this)
What a gem this book was and I am so happy it came up as a suggested book I might want to read because of my love for hockey romances. Dan sure does not know how to make his life easy and once he falls for Marc it is all over from there. The story spans a time frame that you do not feel passing by as it is seamless and keeps you engaged finding out how they deal with changes in their life but know all they want is to be together. What a wonderful treasure and hope the author plans to write more books such as this. This is a story you will want to read.
